Visit & Blog - 3rd Sept - Quiet day touring ... and tapas

We've seen a lovely looking cabin for sale on the internet and decide to explore to try to find it ... which is a lot harder than it sounds, especially when you know the area and where we're trying to get too (with hindsight!!!) So, Monday morning we set off for Goose Arm Rd, Deer Lake (or so it said on the real estate agent's write up. Goose Arm Rd on multimap is in and around Deer Lake town to the north. We travelled along, and it changes fairly quickly from tarmac, to rough road ... to dirt track, and after 5km, ultimately to a "4x4 water hazard challenge"! However as we were in a small Yaris rental, though Daniel was up for tryng to drive through the larger than normal puddle/small pond ... Kate and I were definately not!

So we doubled back to Deer Lake, to find a proper map and understand where Norwest Cove real is. Turns out to be on "Middle Arm" way off, and nowhere near Deer Lake town - clearly the agent hadn't been out that way for a while!

Back to the chalet for a quick lunch - and the Kate and Dan go off for nine holes of golf. Later we went down to the Eagles Perch for a Tapas evening. Good food, albeit Dan thought it was a snack and was up for then going to the Beach House for supper. We met a local from Corner Brook (Gary Kelly), who knew the www.CrazyAboutNewfoundland.com website, and was a regular visitor to it. We had a good conversation with him, its good to meet the people - they're all so friendly. Gary runs a site called www.dateagolfer.com
